Revered as one of the most ancient and significant festivals of Tamil Saivism, Karthigai Deepam commemorates the manifestation of Lord Shiva as an infinite column of divine light. The lighting of the Maha Deepam atop Arunachala Hill symbolizes this eternal flame of wisdom and grace, drawing lakhs of devotees from across the world.

On this sacred occasion, the Tiruvannamalai Adheenam Math actively participates in the celebrations with deep devotion and dedication. The Math organizes special pujas, Vedic chanting, devotional programmes, and spiritual discourses glorifying Lord Arunachaleswarar and the significance of Arunachala. Saints, sadhus, devotees, and pilgrims gather at the Math to take part in the holy observances and receive spiritual blessings.

Drinking water, buttermilk, and other essential services are also arranged for Girivalam devotees undertaking the sacred circumambulation of Arunachala Hill.
