Tiruvannamalai Adheenam (Tamil: திருவண்ணாமலை ஆதீனம்) is a Saivite monastic institution based in the town of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.
The adheenam was founded during the 20th century, along with the Tiruvannamalai Adheenam and the Tiruvannamalai Adheenam mutt was founded by Shri Shri Karunanidhi Swamigal. Tiruvannamalai Adheenam is the oldest Saivite adheenam (also known as a matha or mutt), a form of Hindu monastery, in South India.
The Tiruvannamalai Adheenam Mutt is located in Tiruvannamalai girivalam path, close to Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai. The Adheenam is involved in publishing Saivite literature, specifically Thevaram and Tiruvasakam and its translations. It is also involved in literary scholarship. The Tiruvannamalai Adheenam along with the 20th century spread the knowledge of Saiva Siddhantham. The
Tiruvannamalai Adheenam Mutt offers Annadhanam (free meals) to devotees in its premises and also the Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple and ayodhya shri ram temple administered by them. The Tiruvannamalai Adheenam Mutt organizes special worship practices like Nithya and Maheswar Pooja.
Religious activities
- To propagate the Sanatana Dharma individually and collectively.
- To establish, maintain, and support Hindu places of worship, prayer towers, and outreach centers.
- To print, publish, and distribute Hinduism literature, books and audio-video messages.
- To provide relief to the poor, including educational aid, medical assistance for the needy, and orphanage/old-age home operations.
- The creation, establishment, protection and preservation of a Centre of Memory about Hindu nationalist thinkers and Hindu Religious Leaders.
- To make the people aware of cruelty against cows and to make propaganda against the cruelty and to prevent the same and also to safeguard the same.
- To provide Prasadam distribution, food for pilgrims and feeding the poor.
